Towards a new political crisis within the metropolis of Orléans?

France Bleu Orléans has acquired a letter that looks like a cobblestone in the pond : dated Wednesday, October 19, addressed to Serge Grouard, it was signed by 10 mayors*, most of them on the left but including 5 vice-presidents, who denounce “the lack of consultation” in the decisions taken by President LR of the metropolis and evoke “a loss of confidence”.

“Bit-by-bit decisions, without an overall long-term vision”

The signatories cite a few recent examples: the new economic roadmap presented last week to business leaders, but not to elected officials; the requalification of Orléans malls which to date has not been the subject of any meeting with the mayors of the metropolis; the energy sobriety plan for the metropolis, promised on September 8 but which did not give rise to any discussion as the budgetary deadlines approached. Added to this – we are told – the end of aid for the purchase of electric bikesannounced in a press release without the vice-president in charge of the file (Christian Dumas) being aware…

We cannot be satisfied with decisions taken piecemeal, without a global long-term vision“, conclude the mayors in this letter. Should we deduce that a new political crisis will shake the metropolis of Orléans? We know thatjust a year ago
a reversal of alliance had forced the socialist Christophe Chaillou to resign from the presidency, in favor of the LR Serge Grouard: one can think that certain elected officials, who had badly digested this episode, fed some grudges.

A position that is not yet public

But none of the signatories we contacted agreed to be interviewed to explain further:this letter was not intended to be made public“, they plead, assuring that their priority remains”the development and co-construction of metropolitan projects“. The reality may also be that they have neither the desire nor the means to go into a head-on clash against Serge Grouard.

Difficult to renounce the vice-presidencies. It is also difficult to justify the contradictory positions : how, for example, to be alarmed by the project of requalification of the malls of Orléans when it was explained in the metropolitan council that there was “nothing to worry about” on the subject: word for word declaration by Jean-Vincent Valliès, the mayor of Chécy, signatory of this letter… We will in any case see the November 17 if this rant becomes public, since it is on this date that the next metropolitan council.

* The letter was signed by Valerie Barthe-Cheneau (mayor of La Chapelle-St-Mesmin), Laurent Baude (mayor of Semoy), Philippe Beaumont (mayor of Marigny-les-Usages), Carole Canette (mayor of Fleury-les-Aubrais), Christophe Chaillou (mayor of St-Jean-de-la-Ruelle), Christian Dumas (mayor of Ingré), Maryvonne Hautin (mayor of Saran), Francis Triquet (mayor of Combleux), Vanessa Slimani (Mayor of St-Jean-de-Braye) and Jean-Vincent Vallies (mayor of Chécy), all members of the group “For a common metropolis”.
