ASNL wants to do even better when receiving Cholet

Last week’s match at Versailles leaves a mixed impression. The ASNL brought back a point and maintained their momentum, against one of the surprise teams of this start to the championship, but the Nancy led twice in the away score and were equalized each time.

In the end, the impression was that the ASNL had had the opportunities to take off but had not been able to seize them. “Be careful, Versailles also had balls to take the advantage” tempers Albert Cartier, but the Nancy coach admits that he would have liked more variety in his team’s play.

Another force of the moment, a beautiful diversity in goalscoring. 9 goals scored and 5 different markers (Nangis 3, Sakho 2, Etcheverria 2, Cropanèse 1, Robinet 1), illustration that the danger offensively can come from several different places.

A defense that reassures

Even if it lost twice against Versailles, the Nancy defense seems to be giving more and more guarantees as the season progresses. A rearguard, however, entirely renewed in the off-season but which already displays a nice complementarity.

Prince Mendy, one of the links in this solid Nancy wall, confirms that his integration went perfectly. Initially, he was to form the central defense duo with Baptiste Aloé, with whom he was trained and with whom he already had affinities. Unfortunately Aloé was seriously injured and the doublet had to change. Now Prince Mendy is teaming up with Lucas Pellegrini and again the pair of centrals seems very complementary. Only downside to watch for Lucas Pellegrini, his commitment. Very generous, the young defender must also learn “the limits that must be respected” underlines his coach.

Albert Cartier also notes that “15 days before Baptiste Aloé’s injury, I was watching Lucas Pellegrini, outside training, off the field, he was still with Prince Mendy. I said to myself, it’s weird all the same, they are in competition on the same position, they know that if one plays, the other will surely not play and they are still together. I said to myself that’s good, that’s a good sign. Beyond the competition, there is something. And 2 weeks later they were partners”

Keeping up the pace in a tight league

You only have to take a look at the National ranking to realize that the gap is very smalleven after 7 days, between the top and the bottom of the table.

“Only the series will allow us to move forward,” defender Prince Mendy repeats, well aware that maintaining the pace is essential to staying at the top of the table.

Cholet, opponent this Friday, also plays the role of the slice of ham in the sandwich at the moment, 11th in the standings, almost in the middle, stuck between the top and the bottom of the table. A team that haven’t won for 4 days and who risks, like Bastia-Borgo, coming to Marcel Picot to reassure himself and therefore to play fairly united. Here again the ASNL will have to know how to be patient if the lock does not jump quickly.

The Nancy group

The good news is the presence of Neil El Aynaoui who “is applying for a starting position” confirms Albert Cartier, despite his concerns with adductors at Versailles. Jalil Moustaid is also called. Diafra Sakho, excluded last Friday and Lamine Cissé, injured, are forfeited.

Albert Cartier also confirms that the file “advances” on the young Victor Glaentzlin, a striker on trial this week in the Hague forest. He could be the 3rd axial striker of ASNL. Born in Alsace, trained in Sochaux, he was in Créteil, so he knows the championship.
