A firefighter died on Friday August 5 during an intervention for a fire in fields, announced the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis). The victim is a 50-year-old man, according to daily information West France. “It is with immense sadness that Sdis 44 announces the death in service of the head of the center of Saint Lyphard during a field fire intervention. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”wrote on Twitter the Sdis de Loire-Atlantique.
The firefighters did not wish to give more details on the circumstances of the tragedy. According to France Bleu Loire-Atlantique, the firefighter suffered a heart attack during the intervention. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin offered his condolences to the firefighter’s family in a message posted Friday evening on Twitter.

This is the second firefighter to die in Loire-Atlantique in a year. On July 6, 2021, the department’s firefighters were bereaved by the death of a 60-year-old volunteer firefighter during training with a team of water rescuers from Sdis in Pornic.
