Announcing a death is never easy. But it is even more complicated when you have to announce the disappearance of their father to your children… However, Laëtitia Provenchère, candidate of Large families, life in XXLdid indeed have to go through this heartbreaking stage… Invited in the podcast The whirlwind, she was coming back to this very complicated moment which still affects her enormously. A drama comparable to that which affected the Colas family…
The husband of the mother of four lost his life after a serious fall from a ladder at his workplace. An accident that occurs when his little Nolann is at his grandmother’s. “On Sundays, when I get home, before knowing that there was no follow-up for Guillaume, I talk about it with Nolann and explain to him that dad had a big sore”, says Laëtitia Provenchère, still far from imagining the worst. But “on the 10th, when Guillaume dies, I go home at the end of the day and there I don’t talk to Nolan about it. I only talk to him about it the next day because I was afraid to tell him just before he make her night”.
The adorable thought of his son
The young mother had to muster her courage in both hands to make the heartbreaking announcement, trying to use the right words: “I told him that dad was dead, that he was in heaven”. Laëtitia Provenchère nevertheless admitted to having gone to a child psychiatrist for advice and to get through this difficult period as well as possible. The latter would then have advised him not to “beat around the bush”which forced the candidate to Large families, life in XXLto change his speech and be “more direct”. “‘It’s not that dad left and didn’t come back. He didn’t leave with another woman.’ ‘he is dead”.
However, even by being more frank with his son, he does not really manage to realize the situation. “At first, I told him he was ‘in heaven’. But Nolann was starting to have a kind of whim for planes”she says before concluding: “I explained to him that no, that he is in paradise and that is where people go when they are dead”.
