As drought rages in France, the village of Villars-sur-Var, in the Alpes-Maritimes, has decided to ration water for its inhabitants. Explanations.

Monday, June 20, the drought continues in France. The situation is critical. Forty departments are concerned with water restrictions and some municipalities are even starting to run out of resources. This is the case in Villars-sur-Var, in the Alpes-Maritimes where 700 inhabitants are rationed because there is not enough water. Since Friday, June 17, residents must come and supply themselves with bottles distributed by the town hall.

“We have taken a degraded measure for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth. This still allows the population to be able to use the water for other sanitary and other uses.“, explains René Briquetti, mayor of the city. A decision taken, because the two sources which supply the village have reached a critical level. To overcome this lack, the village wishes to connect to a new source. If this is possible, then restrictions will be lifted.
