“It’s VT in the S1 texting you. I’m just telling you once little fuck whore. […] it’s the end of your little career as a lawyer. We know your address. […] Next time, you’ll see what it’s like to live with a contract on your head*. »
This is the disturbing threat that a defense lawyer received by text message in January 2022, reveals a denunciation of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal in order to obtain a production order. For security reasons, we chose not to name the complainant, who never represented the suspect.
The “VT” mentioned in the text is Yahya Mouhime, who is a member of the “Profit Boyz” of Saint-Léonard, according to the court document.
At war with rivals in neighboring neighborhoods, this gang is partly responsible for the outbreak of gun violence in Montreal.
When the threatening text messages were sent to the lawyer, Yahya Mouhime was being held in Rivière-des-Prairies prison, awaiting trial in his firearms case which concluded on Wednesday. Corrections officers searched “VT”‘s cell and found a small black cell phone hidden under the sole of a shoe, the court document says. However, this telephone would not be at the origin of the text messages, writes the sergeant-detective in the document. The investigation is therefore continuing.
Note that no charges have yet been filed in this case.
Real guns in a music video
The young “VT” rapper is followed by 27,000 people on YouTube, where his music videos about his criminal lifestyle rack up to 2 million views. In his most recent song, for example, he lists the people he wants to kill. It’s for one of his music videos, titled Pausethat Yahya Mouhime was sentenced on Wednesday to three years and three months in prison by judge Pierre Dupras, following a joint suggestion by lawyers.
Given his preventive detention since his arrest in January 2021, his sentence to be served to date is 14 and a half months. He had pleaded guilty last March to charges of possession of a prohibited device (a silencer) and possession of a prohibited firearm.
In this music video, the 20-year-old rapper appears with his face uncovered, while he and his accomplices show off eight real firearms towards the camera. Yahya Mouhime can be seen handling a .45 caliber pistol and a second pistol with a high capacity magazine, according to the admitted facts. Despite the claim of the authors of the video, the firearms were genuine.
Four of the firearms appearing in the music video were later seized by police, including in a shooting in January 2020 and in three drug searches in 2021 in Montreal, Laval and Longueuil.
Other men sent to prison
Targeted by an arrest warrant, Yahya Mouhime taunted the police for months in 2020 by appearing with firearms in his new music videos. In front of the judge, last March, the young man allowed himself to boast by leaving the box of the accused, provoking the laughter of his co-accused at liberty.
Police investigation uncovered the identities of most of the masked men in the music video. Three of them pleaded guilty last March to various charges related to possession of a firearm, namely Wiliam Tshidibumvu, Jemsley Printemps-Sanon and Devon Vilmond Kylel.
On Wednesday, Jemsley Printemps-Sanon was sentenced to 18 months in prison. As for Wiliam Tshidibumvu, he received a sentence of two years, less a day, for all of his files last May. The 25-year-old was also an “executor” in an identity theft ring.
Me Eric Poudrier and M.e Jean-Philippe MacKay represented the public prosecutor in this case, while Me François Gauthier defended MM. Mouhime and Printemps-Sanon.
