Next Sunday, June 12, 2022, the first round of legislative elections will take place in France. The opportunity for Emmanuel Macron to perhaps obtain a new majority of deputies in the National Assembly to thus implement the program for which a majority of French people re-elected him. But for a few hours, the presidential party has started to grimace. The first results of the French who vote abroad are not frankly very favorable to the outgoing executive and some executives fear a strong push from the left union erected by Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
If the latter dreams of being Prime Minister within two weeks, there is still a long way to go for the man who finished third on the evening of the first round of the last presidential election. Especially since a controversy targeting one of its candidates has just broken out. Indeed, Sunday, June 5, the activist of Reconquest! (Party of Eric Zemmour Editor’s note) Damien Rieu has published a video where we see a Nupes candidate in the legislative elections in Aveyron sniffing a white powder. A sequence that would go back several years but which immediately looped on social networks.
The accused is Léon Thébault, Nupes candidate in the 1st constituency of Aveyron, who is 21 years old. The candidate supported by Éric Zemmour posted the video on Twitter, directly challenging Léon Thébault: “Good evening Léon Thébault, is that you on this video?”
The candidate of the Union of the Lefts defended himself, explaining that it was crushed Doliprane, and not cocaine. “Yes I am aware of the publication of this video and since then I have suffered a wave of harassment and threats. This video is old. It dates from when I was in first class”, indicated Léon Thébault to the regional daily Midi Libre. “We were at a party with friends, and it wasn’t about drugs but about a crushed Doliprane, reduced to powder. It’s the kind of stupid thing you can do when you’re a teenager and at parties.” he explained before concluding: “We see what the far right is capable of smearing the other candidates”.
