Monday, May 9, during his traditional military parade, the head of the Kremlin justified his intervention in Ukraine without making a show of force. Journalist Hugues Huet, special correspondent in Moscow, sheds light.
“We expected an offensive speech, strong announcements, it was not. During a short speech, Vladimir Putin justified his military operation in Ukraine”reports, Monday, May 9, Hugues Huet, special correspondent in Moscow (Russia) for France Télévisions. “Russia was facing an unacceptable threat, it tried everything to avoid a confrontation, but NATO didn’t want to know, so Russia was forced to strike first”continues the journalist.
“The head of state also appeared isolated on the presidential platform, surrounded only by veterans and generals. No heads of state, officially the Kremlin had not invited anyone. Perhaps a way of avoiding affront of 2015, when no one had gone to Moscow. We were then just after the annexation of Crimea, and in the midst of the Donbass war”reminds Hugues Huet.
