Thanks to its success in Chambly, Stade Lavallois validated its ticket for Ligue 2 this Monday, May 2, 2022. After Friday’s results, the Mayenne were two points short of being certain to go up. It’s done two days before the end of the championship thanks to the 3-0 victory over the Chambly field.
The Laval residents did not drag at the Marais stadium, scoring the first goal in the eighth minute. On an eccentric free kick from Julien Maggiotti, Marvin Baudry kicks the ball back into the box. The central defender thus scores his second goal of the season. The first dated back to February 12 against Cholet (3-1).
Just after the hour mark, the Mayenne scored the liberating goal thanks to Geoffray Durbant (his 17th of the season). Overflowing joy, and a little too much for the Tango supporters with a jet of smoke which interrupted the match for a few minutes. Kader N’Chobi carries the thrust in the 82nd minute. And 1, and 2, and 3-0 for Tango!
President Laurent Lairy’s club will thus regain professional status
In previous years in National, Stade Lavallois had finished 8th in 2018, 4th in 2019, 9th in 2020 (unfinished season due to Covid) and 12th in 2021.
There is now the title of French National Champion to conquer. Winner of two Summer Cups (1982, 1984), Stade Lavallois has never won a league title.
