Standing concerts are back at the Florida in Agen. The current music room launched its 2022 season with the Touraine group EZ3kiel.
After two years of epidemic, cascading cancellations, postponements of concerts and restrictions, the recovery, today, has a taste of liberation. “We feel that there is a terrible desire to play and for the public to meet and then also it was a period of creation for the groups who want to show it on stage”, assures Florent Bénéteau, director of Florida.
During this first stand-up concert in Florida, the collective EZ3kiel played the pieces of The memory of fireher last baby born last January. A scripted seventh opus, a bit like the Melody Nelson of Gainsbourg. A unique concept album that will have taken nine years to mature. It was in Florida that the idea was born: “It was one of the first places to welcome EZ3kiel in residence to work. It’s true that on each tour, we are invited here to come and play, we like to go there”, entrusts Stéphane the drummer of the group.
After months away from the stage, it was therefore time to take the plunge and it was only natural that the musicians chose that of Florida. “There will be a rehabilitation to all that. There are bands that don’t want to tour yet because they know they won’t make full gauges. But I think we have to lead by example, we have to go, it’s time“, assures Benjamin, guitarist and singer of the group.
Composed of eleven titles in French, The memory of fire plays with forms oscillating between orchestrated spoken texts and instrumental pieces. The result, adorned with hybrid music, a mixture of folk, electro and organic rock, takes the listener to distant lands. “We tell a story more than we chain songs. It’s a record made with four hands with on one side EZ3kiel and on the other, the author of thrillers Caryl Ferey. A friendship was born between the group and him”, says Nicolas, guitarist of the group.
The adventure of The memory of fire is just beginning, the collective EZ3kiel is going on tour on the roads and festivals of France until December 2022 with a stop at Salle Pleyel in Paris on November 24.
For Florida, the program is also busy with Fire! Chatterton, already sold out on May 11, then Panda Dub, before the arrival of the great Arnaud Rebotini on October 14.
