Quebec company FortNine acquires Defender

Powersports accessories e-commerce platform FortNine has acquired Defender, an American marine products company, an acquisition that will allow them to increase their product portfolio for sports enthusiasts.

Completed in partnership with Novacap, this transaction will leverage Defender’s platform to “bring a complementary range of products” to motorsports enthusiasts.

“It is truly a privilege to acquire a company with such a reputation and we want to bring our unique marketing expertise to the maritime industry,” Amin Sawaf, founder and president of FortNine said in a statement Thursday.

Based in Connecticut, the American company is an authorized distributor of 85,000 nautical products and has grown to become the largest nautical supply company in the southern neighbor.

“This first acquisition for FortNine is in line with our ambition to expand Fortnine’s expertise and business model across different market segments,” said Antoine Casimir, Senior Vice President at Novacap.

“Today we are executing our strategy to build an e-commerce powerhouse for sports enthusiasts,” he added.
