The command post will be accessible on rue de la Concorde, in front of the former Café Dépôt, from 9 a.m.

To mark the sad anniversary of his disappearance 14 years later, members of his family will speak to the media in the morning in the hope of obtaining more information.

Go for a walk

On the morning of February 17, 2008, the then 24-year-old young woman had left the family residence, indicating that she was going for a walk.

The investigation had established that she had gone to the ATM of the Caisse populaire located at 9850, boulevard de l’Ormière, at 11:09 a.m. that day.

A few hours later, around 4 p.m., she made a transaction at the Café Dépôt, located at 655 rue de la Concorde, in Saint-Romuald.

A witness who saw her told authorities that she was alone at the time. This is the last time that Marilyn Bergeron, who would be 38 years old today, was seen.

She was anxious, according to her mother

A week before her disappearance, the young woman, who lived in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district, had left Montreal in a rush to return to her parents in Quebec.

She said she was afraid of living in the metropolis and in her apartment.

The fateful day, Marilyn had explained to her mother that she wanted to go for a walk alone. The latter had convinced her daughter to stay a bit, the time for a coffee.

“I was worried, because she was in a precarious psychological state. She was anxious, worried. She was a dead girl, not the playful Marilyn. But I was not to treat her like a little girl, ”said her mother Andrée Béchard in an interview with The newspaper in 2018.

Her purse at home

Marilyn had finally crossed the doorstep after assuring her mother that she would be back in the afternoon.

Later in the day, worried, Mme Béchard had noticed that her daughter’s handbag had remained inside, close to the door, along with her brand new pack of cigarettes. She has not seen her daughter since.

“Anyone who has been a witness or has information and who has never come forward is invited to contact the SPVQ by dialing 418 641-2447,” said SPVQ spokesperson David Poitras. .
