A young Frenchman was sentenced on Tuesday, January 25, to eight years in prison in Iran for having filmed a forbidden zone.

His name is Benjamin Brière, he is 36 years old and his destiny has just changed. Came to do tourism in a natural park, the latter was sentenced to a heavy prison sentence for having filmed an area supposed to be prohibited in the country. His family implores the French authorities to do everything to ensure that he is repatriated.

For his family, Benjamin’s condemnation is incomprehensible. Eight years in prison for espionage, while he always presented himself as a tourist. “Today, we are completely devastated, completely on the ground. Benjamin is clearly a hostage. This is a political trial, we cannot accuse him without justification, without a defenseless case”, launches Blandine Brière, Benjamin’s sister. For his lawyer, his trial is a charade. The French authorities denounce, for their part, an unacceptable and unjustified condemnation.
