A shooting took place in a city in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille, on the evening of Wednesday May 10. A 43-year-old woman died, certainly a collateral victim of settling of scores near a deal point.
On the morning of Thursday May 11, the relatives of the victim gathered where the mother of the family lost her life in the night, in the city of Vieux-moulin in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). The whole neighborhood is in shock. The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday. Several individuals opened fire near a known and hotly contested drug spot between gangs. Weapon fire hit a woman in her forties. She was accompanied by her 19-year-old daughter.
A collateral victim?
Hit by a bullet in the head, the mother of the family died shortly after being taken to hospital. She was not known to the police. The car of the perpetrators of the shootings was found burned, a few meters further. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the judicial police of Marseille. “Everything suggests that he is a collateral victim (…) of these settling of accounts, of these incessant shootings”, comments Rudy Manna, departmental secretary of the Bouches-du-Rhône of the Alliance National Police union. Since the beginning of 2023, 18 people have lost their lives in settling of scores against the backdrop of drug trafficking in Marseille.
