The Premiers de cordée association organized a sporting event at the Stade de France. 4,000 sick or disabled children were able to indulge in multiple activities, such as surfing or rock climbing. As a bonus, they were able to see the sponsor of the association: Kylian Mbappé.
A world champion at the children’s bedside. In his setting at the Stade de France (Seine-Saint-Denis), Kylian Mbappé shows the way. Photos and autographs, the PSG striker came to kick a football. The apotheosis of this day dedicated to sport to help young patients. They are 4,000 practitioners from health establishments throughout Île-de-France. Climbing and surfing are on the program. “It feels good. (…) We feel reunited. We are with friends. We talk with everyone”marvels a teenager.
Many benefits
Since a 2017 decree, anyone suffering from a chronic illness can be prescribed sports sessions. In children, the results are surprising. “They will gain in physical abilities. (…) They will also be much more enduring from a physical and also psychological point of view”, explains Mathieu Pellan, pediatrician and sports doctor at the Jean-Verdier Hospital in Bondy. Throughout the year, the Premiers de cordée association visits hospitals to help sick children discover different sports.
