A review in the middle of the Sidaction weekend. Emmanuel Macron announced, Sunday March 24, on the social network “16.7 million” free condoms had been distributed in pharmacies to under-26s since this measure was implemented on January 1, 2023. “Enjoy it. Keep protecting yourself!” writes the head of state.
However, only condoms from two brands, Eden and Get Out Covered!, are affected. To access it, minors must make a sworn declaration attesting to their age. Adults, for their part, must present their vital card or a certificate of Social Security rights. Despite these conditions, the Minister Delegate in charge of Health, Frédéric Valletoux, welcomed “this success” on France 3, in “Dimanche en politique”.
Emmanuel Macron made this promise during a session of the National Refoundation Council dedicated to youth health in Fontaine-le-Comte, near Poitiers (Vienna), in December 2022. “It’s a small revolution in prevention” against AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, he declared. In France, some 200,000 people live with HIV and 5,000 new HIV-positive cases were discovered in 2022. Donations for Sidaction, which will finance research and care, are still possible on Sunday by telephone, SMS or Internet.
