Here are some notable photos from the life and career of Brian Mulroney

On the occasion of the state funeral of Brian Mulroney, which takes place this Saturday, March 23, The newspaper publishes a large tribute file which allows you to relive significant moments of his life.

Brian Mulroney, 18e Prime Minister of Canada, will have left a lasting mark on the history of Canada and Quebec, during his nine-year reign at the head of the country, from 1984 to 1993.

His death on February 29, at the age of 84, also resonated internationally. His fight against apartheid in South Africa left its mark, here as elsewhere.

Brian Mulroney was also a pioneer in terms of the environment and the economy, with an agreement on acid rain and a free trade treaty with the United States and Mexico which still sets a precedent today.

The “little guy from Baie-Comeau” felt, throughout his life, a deep attachment to Quebec, which he wanted to integrate into the constitutional fold with “honor and enthusiasm”. His dream did not come true, but his love of the Quebec people never failed.
