The purpose of sports
I don’t know anything about Hockey Canada. I am 71 years old and in my life, I noticed that the institutions that are grafted around all the sports become preserves where small groups of people build kingdoms. They are responsible with exorbitant powers. Think of the International Olympic Committee, FIFA, Formula 1. A good sports journalist could come up with dozens of cases. These kingdoms are stuck in their power and are no longer able to differentiate between the good of sport and sportsmen, between the good of the kingdom and power. I believe that if we canceled and remade these institutions every 10 years, the freshness of change would allow sports to retain their fundamental reason: to improve health. Becoming a well-paid professional sportsman or elite athlete is not the goal of sport.

What about players?
This is unacceptable, everyone says so. The leaders of this organization should be banned from hockey. But, beyond the behavior of the leaders of Hockey Canada, we hear very little about the players involved. Are we going to crack down on them? Why would they walk away unscathed? Do we live in a hockeycracy?

Ineligible
It is inadmissible for an organization that should work for the development of young people to cover up criminal acts and give itself an A grade for this management. As for me, the leaders should be criminally prosecuted for complicity after the crime.

A boy club
There is a toxic climate in many sports federations (IOC, FIFA, etc.) since the sponsorship money has flowed. This situation attracts people who are not there for the good of the sport and the athletes, but for their personal gain. This is why there are boy clubs where appointments are made by friends in order to protect each other, thereby clinging to power despite their interference and incompetence.

Guardianship
We must cut off the funding for all the provincial federations and all the sponsors. This is the solution to force this group to leave. I do not understand how they can continue to sit and endorse the culture of rape with the money that parents and sponsors give to these federations to supervise their young people. This toxic file must be settled, it is urgent. And all federations (all sports combined) must carry out an examination, in order to protect the children entrusted to them. Couldn’t we put under guardianship a federation that deviates from its primary vocation, which is the protection of our children?

Reassess needs
Do we need Hockey Canada? We already have provincial, regional, parish organizations… do we need so many pencil pushers?
Denis Marquis
A question of education and supervision
I believe that the education of these young men must first and foremost be done at home: it is the responsibility of parents to teach boys a healthy sexuality with respect for themselves and others. Then it will be up to Hockey Canada to ensure that there is no overflow. Everyone has their own responsibilities. For now, resignations are required at Hockey Canada. Confidence is no longer there, we have to start afresh on new bases.

only one regret
These people are a national disgrace. And instead of showing humility, which would be the big minimum, they accuse everyone and his mother of being the cause of their problems. We can see that they have only one regret: that of having been caught. I support Mr. Trudeau. Let’s create another entity, and that’s a hurry!

No credibility
The directors of Hockey Canada have completely discredited themselves. There is only one solution for them: clear the floor. Otherwise, there could be accusations of shameless waste of public funds.

Start afresh
We need to create another organization with the same mandate as Hockey Canada. Then prosecute all current officers of Hockey Canada’s Board of Directors for using funds to cover up criminal activities.
Pierre Delisle
Only one possibility
The resignation of all directors in office is the only possibility. We have already waited far too long.
Pierre Huot
good intentions
I sincerely believe that the leaders of Hockey Canada had good intentions in creating this fund. I think the leaders will resign because the media pressure has taken over the debate. I sympathize with the victims, but other times other mores. We are in a period of change, denunciations are going to be more and more frequent and that’s okay. In closing, it’s not over: there are still many sports organizations to scrutinize, this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Even worse
And if the refusal of the leaders of Hockey Canada to abandon their position was to avoid that several other situations are disclosed? I too, like the interim president of the board Andrea Skinner, I believe that the facts reported by the media do not reflect the situation: it is even worse than what has been denounced.
