Your reactions to “I will not vote for the CAQ”

Marc Couturier*’s letter did not fail to make our readers react, rather divided on their voting intentions for the next elections. Here is an overview of the many emails received.

Posted yesterday at 11:00 a.m.

I pick up

Thank you for explaining it so well. I, who was a supporter of the CAQ, the arrogance of this government in recent weeks makes me drop out. Yes, unfortunately, the power goes to the head of Mr. Legault.

Suzanne Labelle

Uninspiring

I am also one of those who will not vote for the CAQ. Ministers Pierre Dufour and Benoit Charette do not inspire me in how to manage the environment. Minister Andrée Laforest is deficient in her land use planning policy. François Bonnardel persists in making us swallow the third link. Without counting the health which tramples, education and the places in CPE which trail of the paw. And you think a little check for $500 will make us proud again. This is a very misunderstanding of people who want better for Quebec.

Jocelyn Morin

Who to vote for?

Mr. Couturier, I completely agree with you, but I don’t know who to give my vote to in the next election.

Claude Lamarre

The best government I have seen

I completely disagree with this man from Gatineau. The current government is by far the best we have had since I was of voting age and I am 61 years old. Mr. Legault is a frank man, who dares to act and he agrees with my convictions. No one is perfect, I agree, but we should be proud of the CAQ instead of acting like little people who were born for a small loaf.

Jean-Luc Barrette

Legault governs

Me, yes, I will vote for the CAQ. The Prime Minister does what we elected him to do: he governs. He decides and he acts. Politics is the art of choosing. Some do not like Mr. Legault’s choices. It is their privilege. It is democracy. I will vote for the CAQ and I guess I will not be alone.

Tim Huot

Not this time

There were four of us yesterday in the car, and all the comments expressed agree with yours. We all voted for CAQ in the last election, but that won’t be the case this time around.

Denyse Desjardins

We can’t please everyone

It takes a solid man to govern in Quebec. If Mr. Legault had to listen to all the requests, oppositions and requests, we would not move forward quickly. He is a man of common sense and he cannot please everyone. I don’t see anyone else in his place.

Gaetane Senecal

Environment and education adrift

I support all of Mr. Couturier’s comments. I have said it several times that this Prime Minister does not listen and that he only hears what his advisers tell him. Mr. Legault is telling falsehoods by declaring that he speaks on behalf of Quebeckers. For the past 30 years, I haven’t really been involved in the electoral debate. This year, I’m going to get more deeply involved in my region. It is time for our fellow citizens to realize and understand to what extent this government, led by Mr. Legault, cares nothing for the environment and education. These two areas are the keys to a strong and sustainable economy, in addition to protecting our territory. It is certainly not the Charettes, Juliens and Roberges who are going to bring about the necessary revolution in attitudes and behaviors to “save” our children and our environment. Mr. Couturier, thank you for your comment. Like you, I will not vote for the CAQ.

Andre Clermont, Austin

A sign of insurance

Your right to vote is completely legitimate and justifiable. However, I prefer this type of government to the previous ones. Arrogance is not a sin, it is not incompetence per se, but a sign of assurance. “Say what you do and do what you say. The economy is at its best, the pandemic is under control, we are back to life. You want to risk it all. It’s your choice, not mine.

Pierre Beaulieu

For strong opposition

I share your ideas and sincerely hope for a stronger opposition to the current Quebec government, which is too authoritarian and insensitive to the issues that concern our collective future.

Lise Dumont

From the top of his pedestal

I admit that Mr. Legault’s speech bothers me more and more and I hope it will change soon. His priorities no longer meet me. It is time for him to come down from his pedestal; his arrogance scares me away. I do not blame him for his decisions during the pandemic, because he did his best. There is still time for a change, but it is urgent.

Diane Tremblay

Help Quebecers

Mr. Legault is a strong figure in Quebec and the management of the pandemic is to his credit. Of course, some will never be happy and will look for the worms in the apple. But right now, no one has anything concrete to offer that could help Quebeckers move forward and solve the real problems: health, education, immigration, housing. So let’s leave power to Mr. Legault for the next four years. And for once, instead of criticizing, crushing, contesting, why wouldn’t the other political parties try to unite with him instead of fighting him? That could really help Quebecers.
