“You have to have the humility to recognize that there has been wavering in communication” on the pension reform, said Sunday March 5 on France Inter and franceinfo with Le Monde Marc Ferraci, deputy and vice-president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly, on the eve of a week of mobilization against this reform. “To say that it is a scam like certain unions do, it is false”he tempers.

The floating concerned in particular the question of the minimum pension at 1,200 euros. “It has not been repeated enough that this concerns people who have had a full career at minimum wage level”said the deputy, but “1.8 million retirees will benefit from 600 euros more per year”. On long careers, “180,000 people are retiring with more quarters than necessary, we are going to improve this system”. “What we have not done well is show the imperfections of the current system, to mirror the improvements”summarizes Marc Ferracci.

MP calls for “measurement in blocking”

Marc Ferracci says he is ready to “continue to convince” that this reform aims to “save the pay-as-you-go system” and of “projecting ourselves into the future”. “The strategy of hunched over and closed mouth has never been my strategy”says Marc Ferracci. “I hope that we can tell the French in 2030 that the system is in balance”says the deputy, adding that it is necessary to continue to “think about a more universal system” as it was proposed in 2019.

The vice-president of the Renaissance group also firmly assures that this reform is not a response to a request from Brussels. “Nothing in what is asked of us by Europe requires us to make any reform whatsoever”says Marc Ferracci.

“Going back on the postponement of the legal age would be to empty the substance of this reform.”

On the social movement which will strengthen on Tuesday March 7, he calls for “measurement in blocking”. According to him, it is unlikely that the government will back down on the heart of the reform. “Now, the adjustments of the reform continue, improvements are put in place and it is the right way to do it. Democratic legitimacy must prevail over mobilizations”summarizes Marc Ferracci.
