Yohann Ndoye Brouard from Annecy, European champion in the 200m backstroke

Haut-Savoyard Yohann Ndoye Brouard became European swimming champion in the 200m backstroke this Saturday in Rome, beating his French record with a time of 1 min 55 sec 62 in the final. Qualified on time on Friday having swum alone in the semi-finals, following a plot problem at the start, Ndoye Brouard beat Hungarian Benedek Kovacs (1:56.03) and Englishman Luke Greenbank (1:56.15).

Marie Wattel, 2nd in the 50m butterfly

Annecy swimmer Marie Wattel took second place in the 50m butterfly final, in 25.33, behind Sweden’s Sarah Sjöström (24.96), world record holder for this distance, and ahead of Dutchwoman Maaike De Waard ( 25.62).
