Worrying resignations | The duty

In recent years, we have reported that all these young primary and secondary teachers (up to 50%) are leaving the profession before their first five years. Disillusioned, disappointed and disillusioned. This is a very worrying symptom. This reality deserves special attention because it most likely hides problems across our entire society. In the sense of the words of the teacher who had the courage to express himself on this subject last Everybody talks about it.

Of course, it is a question of working conditions, overcrowded classes, students with particular profiles integrated into ordinary classes, lack of professional staff, etc. The fact remains that this educational disaster, because it is one, is not the subject of more in-depth analysis. Could we not do this in order to consider the necessary solutions?

Faced with this incredible waste of precious resources for the health of our society, I would like to hear more of the perceptions of these educators. Beyond union demands, do they have other grievances to express? Do they really have a say? Are they muzzled in any way? Do they feel embarrassed to disclose what demobilizes them? Where and when can we hear them express themselves freely and with an open heart? Yet such an exercise in one form or another could highlight gaps that need to be addressed. And this, both for university training and for the education we provide to our children. Their observations would produce a mirror effect of who we are.

Do teachers consider themselves well prepared to face the challenges ahead? And well supported by their colleagues? How do we explain the presence of so many difficulties among our students? Are parents part of the problem both in the way they educate their children and in their relationships with the school? Do management support their staff? What differences are observed between teachers who hold on and those who resign? Do their work colleagues have a role to play in their resignations? What are the differences with private schools? In short, we would benefit from probing everything that stands in the way of the necessary consultation of all social actors in the educational project, in order to save our public school, which is unfortunately in very bad shape.
