On March 30, 2022, after four years of legal proceedings, the Côtes-du-Rhône winegrowers’ union had obtained a historic victory. Only red and white wines produced in Tain, Crozes and Larnage in the Drôme can use this Hermitage term on their labels. Victim of numerous counterfeits, the appellation had been borrowed by a winegrower from the Aude producing Corbières. He marketed his wines under the name “Ermitage”. “Misleading business practice“said the Paris court.
The Hermitage is one of the most prestigious appellations in the worldwith high end wines and very expensive.
