(Schaffhausen) Canadian Brad Gushue remained undefeated with an 8-4 victory over defending champion Bruce Mouat at the World Men’s Curling Championship on Sunday.
Gushue, from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrado, took a 4-1 lead after five ends.
The Scot cut the lead to 6-4 with two points in the eighth end, but Gushue responded with two points in the ninth.
The same two nations battled for gold in 2023.
Sunday’s victory moves Canada ahead of Scotland in tiebreakers.
“It’s early, but that’s part of what you have in mind against the best teams,” Gushue said. They will be there at the end of the competition and hopefully so will we. »
Canada and Sweden lead the standings with a 3-0 record.
The maple leaf will play again on Monday, against the Italians.
