Stéphanie Borel, 46, was arrested for the first time following the events that occurred on October 2, near the intersection of Chemin de Chambly and Boulevard Curé-Poirier Est.
However, she was released on a promise to appear at a later date. His release aroused the indignation of the family of the young victim.
But now investigators arrested the woman again on Friday morning, in light of new investigative information obtained.
Stéphanie Borel was formally charged with aggravated assault Friday afternoon at the Longueuil courthouse. She remains detained until her appearance next Wednesday.
The 10-year-old boy, newly arrived in the neighborhood with his family, suffered serious injuries during the senseless attack.
He had suffered second-degree burns on his upper body and his face.
The arrested woman, who lives in an apartment building, had probably planned her attack.
Seeing a group of young people walking on the ground in front of her house, she allegedly came out with a cauldron of boiling water and doused the boy. The children were returning from school at the time of the attack.
Stéphanie Borel would not have liked young people to encroach on the land of the apartment building where she lives.
In an interview with TVA Nouvelles, the father of the young victim denounced the gesture, calling it “nasty”.
“Only a vile person could do that to a child. He is completely terrorized and potentially physically scarred for life,” liberal MP Marwah Rizqy reacted to this news on X.
Stéphanie Borel has no criminal record. However, she was accused of domestic assault in 2021, before being acquitted the following year.
