France Televisions

As part of the school press week, CM1 pupils created their own television news. Thanks to this, they learned to verify information.

Pupils of a class of CM1 present a television news. In three years, their mistress transformed her classroom into a studio thanks to a green screen, a teleprompter, appropriate lighting and microphones. “We work as a group and I like WebTV”, says Thibault, a CM1 student. The budding reporters conducted interviews, taking care of the smallest details. They also carried out information research and learned about fake news.

Learn to discern right from wrong

“I think it’s very important, in the world we live in, to have a certain critical mind about all the information in which we can be drowned”, explains Valérie Damecour-Finel, CM1 teacher at the Fernand Léger school. In this way, students learn to check, write and express themselves. Before being confronted with social networks, they have already acquired reflexes in order to discern the true from the false.
