“The idea of making a testamentary gift had been in my head for several years,” says Christine Beauchamp, who bequeathed almost all of her property to the Cité de la Santé Foundation. This formula also allows you to donate a few percent of your assets in the future.
In January 2020, Christine Beauchamp had to be operated on for an aneurysm at the Cité-de-la-Santé hospital, then underwent three other operations. “I went to my notary. The Hospital saved my life and I wanted to do something for him”, declares the one who made a first donation and a bequest to the Foundation.
Extremely generous gestures that seem natural to him. “I have few family, a sister and a brother who are financially independent,” says Ms.me Beauchamp who is happy to know that at the Laval Foundation, these sums will be used to purchase equipment and other very concrete projects. For the marketing professional, too many people ignore this opportunity to give.
A very accessible formula
Anyone can make a testamentary bequest, points out Isabelle Tremblay, Deputy Executive Director of the Cité de la Santé Foundation.
“Someone who has an estate of $500,000 at the end of his life can, for example, decide to give away 5%. These $25,000 are very significant for a foundation and allow it to leave its mark,” emphasizes Samira Gouzi, Director of Philanthropic Development.
Those who plan to make a planned gift (will, life insurance or other) are supported at the Foundation by a team of volunteer experts (notaries, financial advisors, tax experts). “Going to see the foundations to understand their needs is a first step that does not commit you to anything! encourages us Samira Gouzi.
