The debates on the pension reform resumed in the afternoon of February 13 and they were still stormy. The week promises to be tense at the National Assembly. Can the executive still move the lines?

There are five days left for deputies to examine the pension reform. The end of the debates will be Friday, February 17 at midnight. Can the text be voted on? So far, only one article has been adopted. MPs still have to consider 19 articles and more than 15,000 amendments, which is mathematically impossible. This obstruction is claimed by France Insoumise. “We do not want to allow the government to be able to take advantage of a vote in the National Assembly to impose its reform rejected by a majority of French people”declares Paul Vannier, deputy (LFI / Nupes) of Val-d’Oise.

Elisabeth Borne renews contact with union officials

Some LFI allies would like to examine article 7 on leaving at 64. Only LFI can move the debate forward by deciding to delete thousands of amendments. Are there any negotiations left? The government continues to study several issues, including seniors, long careers, women and hardship. The inter-union threatens to harden the movement and promises, on March 7, a France at a standstill, which prompted Elisabeth Borne to renew contact with several union officials.
