France defended, Tuesday, November 21 before the International Olympic Committee (IOC), its candidacy to host the Winter Olympic Games (OG) in 2030 in the Alps. A candidacy led in particular by Laurent Wauquiez and Renaud Muzzlepresidents of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) regions.

“We didn’t make any mistakes. I believe that the written file, technically, was overall very, very good”estimated Renaud Muzzle in the “Quatre Vérités” on France 2, Wednesday. “I think we’re in a good place.” in the race to host the 2030 Winter Olympics, indicated the president of the PACA region, adding however that“you must not sell the bear’s skin before having killed it”.

“A specificity around sustainable development”

“It’s an application around the French Alps, with specificity around sustainable development to show that we have the capacity to develop our mountains while taking care of our environment”indicated Renaud Muzzle. “There is not a euro invested in the region [PACA] without paying attention to our environment”he assured.

From now on, we will have to wait until Wednesday November 29 to find out if France is selected to continue discussions around the organization of the 2030 Winter Olympics. Candidates from other countries could also be accepted. “The final decision will take place this summer in Paris”specified Renaud Muzzle.
