For several days, the leaders of France Insoumise have been fearing the broadcast on Thursday October 5 of the program “Complément d’investigation” on France 2, targeting Paris MP Sophia Chikirou. This damning investigation looks into the methods and accusations against this very influential elected official among the Insoumis.
Communicator, Sophia Chikirou is suspected of having overcharged LFI for her agency’s services during the 2017 presidential campaign, as revealed the following year by the Radiofrance investigation unit.
She is also accused of having paid herself copiously in the process. Sophia Chikirou should soon be heard by the courts with a view to possible indictment for “aggravated fraud”. Remember that the accounts of this Jean-Luc Mélenchon campaign have been in the crosshairs of justice for several years.
“The party strengthens itself by purifying itself”?
While waiting to know what the conclusions will be, it is significant to look at what LFI’s defense strategy reveals about the nature of this movement. Among the Insoumis, Sophia Chikirou is not just anyone. She is a close friend of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who is influential in the movement and who is always supported by the Leader. Ten days ago, she asserted “there is Doriot in Fabien Roussel” – Jacques Doriot, the collaborationist leader during the war, an insult approved by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Last December, she also piloted a shocking interview with MP Adrien Quatennens who came to victimize himself on BFM-TV, when he had just been convicted of “domestic violence” against his wife.
Sophia Chikirou’s brutality and provocations have sometimes shocked rebellious elected officials, but so far, no one has dared to criticize her publicly. Because attacking Sophia Chikirou is attacking Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
Could the situation change after these new revelations? Maybe. In any case, since Thursday evening, the exchange loops between Insoumis have been overheating. Tongues could be loosened. For now, the line of defense repeated by Mathilde Panot is: “All these lies want to smear us collectively!” In fact, France Insoumise has no real body for collective deliberation. It is based on the dogma of the infallibility of the Leader. And so far, all those who have dared to challenge it have been dismissed by virtue of this Leninist principle to which Jean-Luc Mélenchon remains faithful: “The party strengthens itself by purifying itself.”
