Thursday, May 5, the National Council of the Socialist Party (PS) meets to validate or not the prior agreement reached with La France insoumise (LFI) for the legislative elections of June 2022.
The National Council of the Socialist Party (PS) began Thursday, May 5 in the evening, with around 300 participants, in order to decide whether the PS will make an agreement with La France insoumise (LFI) for the legislative elections. “A participant said to me a few moments ago: ‘This is the most important meeting in the recent history of the Socialist Party'”reports journalist Hugo Capelli, live from the PS headquarters in Ivry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne) for the 20 Hours of France 2.
In the evening, the debates promise to be tense between the politicians who defend the agreement reached with LFI for the legislative elections and those who do not want it. Some, like Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie region, have begun to present dissenting candidacies. “Will the opponents of the agreement leave the party if this agreement is validated?”, asks journalist Hugo Capelli. The result of the vote of the national council will be known around 10:30 p.m., Thursday, May 5.
