The actor will be back on the big screen next December, upon the release of the next film in which he stars, Emancipation. Apple, which produces the film, has decided not to delay the arrival of the feature film in cinemas (and on its distribution platform) despite the antics of the actor during the last Oscar ceremony. It will be remembered that Will Smith dealt that evening a violent slap to the host Chris Rock.

Worried that this gesture would harm the popularity of the film, Apple decided to delay the release ofEmancipation until 2023. The decision has just been changed. The film will be screened in theaters from December 2, 2022 before arriving on Apple TV+ seven days later.

Will Smith has been banned for 10 years from the prestigious Oscars ceremony, but nothing prevents a possible nomination. With EmancipationApple also hopes to win some prizes at the next awards ceremony of the Academy of Cinema.

Already, a trailer has been unveiled. We discover Will Smith in the skin of Whipper Peter, a slave who tries to escape in the middle of the bayous of Louisiana. The owner of the plantation where he lived beat him so badly that the slave almost lost his life. The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, was written by Bill Collage.
