why she absolutely “had to” “move on”

Season 13 of Dancing with the Stars began on February 16, 2024, on TF1. And Denitsa Ikonomova, revealed by the program, is neither on the jury nor among the dance professionals. She, who won the competition several times (notably with Rayane Bensetti, with whom she was very close), explained to our colleagues at Télé Star the reasons for this absence.

“I had to challenge myself, move on to something else”

While Inès Vandamme, Elsa Bois, Candice Pascal and Ana Riera will entertain this year, on the floors, with Fauve Hautot on the jury, the Bulgarian-Canadian dancer and choreographer assures that she had other things to do. She explains: “Life is so short that personally, I want to experience it 100%. That’s why I told myself that I had to challenge myself, that I had to move on. On Dancing with the Stars, I won four times, now I leave the chance to others. Others must experience the same emotions that I experienced.”

However, the young woman remains faithful to the first channel, the one that made her known and she specifies: “I don’t close any doors. Why not do a little entertainment in the after-party or small topics for them. We never know. We can find something else to do together. But we remain a family. I love this show, my friends, all the teams. If we can still work together, why not. The opportunity just has to present itself, I have to be available and we all want it. Let the ingredients be there. But I’m not closing the door.”

Coming soon to the cinema

But we will probably have to wait a little longer before seeing it on the small screen. Indeed, to our colleagues, the star also announces that she could well play in a film, at the cinema. And to explain: “A director friend called me two days ago to ask me to appear in his next film.” Let’s hope that the small screen will not become too small for the big ambitions of our darling Denitsa…
