Why do we love singing so much, and how does it benefit our health? Elements of response on the set of 12/13, Wednesday June 21, with the doctor and journalist Damien Mascret.
Can music be used to stimulate memory? “Music is the most powerful memory we have. Sometimes all we need to do is hum the first notes of music for it to immediately stimulate your hippocampus, and your hippocampus is a key area in the memory”explains, Wednesday, June 21, the doctor and journalist Damien Mascret.
Boost memory
Indeed, it is the first area affected in Alzheimer’s disease: immediate memory. Stimulating it activates memories. On the other hand, not all: the memory of faces is more complicated to preserve, just like the memory of words. Listening to music, however, has other benefits, since it helps to produce dopamine, a pleasure hormone. “And if we anticipate the favorite moment of the song, your brain gives you a dopamine spike”adds Damien Mascret.
