Who feels that what takes place at the Blue Room is connected to their life?

It’s autumn. The leaves change color. The world is getting sick. The wind hits harder. People go out in hoodies. And it’s seeing everyone walking with a big hoodie on my back that I suddenly think of Catherine Dorion. The smile grips me. I miss her, her outspokenness and her way of doing politics.

I then decided to dive back into a reading that I had devoured a year earlier: The hotheads. I reread Catherine’s story with as much, if not more, intensity than the first time. I recognize myself, I recognize us in his story.

Catherine Dorion was one of the only politicians who made me want to go on board with her. When she asked a question, when she spoke in the media, when she published a video on Instagram, I listened to her in full every time. In 2018, when I was 15, I saw this woman talking about culture, time, freedom, independence, and I was moved by her words. She had something to say, I was inspired.

Naively, I then ask myself the following question: “At the moment, who inspires you in Quebec politics? »

Instinctively, I think of Émilise Lessard-Therrien.

It’s true, she’s not here anymore…

My brain stops thinking. I already knew the real answer. Person.

And I suddenly think of this passage in Dorion’s book: “Who feels that what happens in the National Assembly is connected to their life? »

I knew the answer too. Person.

Let’s take the political news of the last few weeks: Legault repeats his tape on immigration, the Northvolt project is basically nonsense, we are witnessing useless squabbles with the federal government… In short, it’s not flying very high.

Catherine was right: “It’s not good. THE show is not good. The inspiration is not there. The truth is not there. » At 21, I realized that I was already disillusioned with politics.

Where is the passion? Inspiration? The craze? The desire to create a social project? The desire to create a country? Where is the politics that makes you want to go out into the streets? The one that gets you up in the morning, that gives you the desire to get together, to discuss, to think, to debate?

I want to be asked real questions, to ask real questions! Let’s talk about the world that lives in the streets, let’s talk about the culture that is crumbling, the time that passes too quickly, our collective anxiety, our planet that we are abandoning and the country that we created.

Let’s stop feeding this political-media spectacle which inspires no one and which is not connected to our lives.

Let’s create another show.
