“White Christmas”, the American Christmas of the whole world

It is very rare that a melody is sufficient on its own to immerse us in an emotion that calls on very old memories and all kinds. And, in addition, this version of White Christmas is very recent since the trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf released it on the album First Christmas, published in October.

And it’s both a new version and an obvious reference to a tradition that dates back to Christmas 1941 – the first live performance on radio, of White Christmas, sung by Bing Crosby.

In this episode of These crooners who make parties, you hear excerpts from:

Ibrahim Maalouf, White Christmas, 2021

Bing Crosby, White Christmas, 1942

André Claveau, White Christmas, 1954

Pirate’s heart, White Christmas, 2011

In July and August 2017, we spent Un été en Souchon, during which Alain Souchon guided us on a tasty walk through a lifetime of love for song.
