Covid-19: where is the epidemic?
Covid-19: where is the epidemic? – (France 2)
Is Covid-19 likely to come to the table during the end-of-year celebrations? An update on the situation with doctor and France Télévisions journalist Damien Mascret, present on the 20 Heures set, Monday December 18.
As the end-of-year holidays approach, where are we with Covid-19? “The wave is there. If we look at the suspicions of Covid by SOS Médecins, we see that a month ago we were around 2,600 per week, and now we are almost double, at almost 5,000 per week“, indicates doctor and France Télévisions journalist Damien Mascret, present on the 20 Heures set, Monday December 18. “All this is obviously only the tip of the iceberg, because today, we are very rarely tested“, he adds.
“Better population immunity”
In terms of hospitalizations for Covid-19, “A month ago, we were around 1,400 per week. We are now at 2,221 hospitalizations per week“, specifies the doctor. For comparison, in December 2022, we were at 1,500 hospitalizations per day. “This means that we have better population immunity, whether by vaccination or by contamination.“, explains Damien Mascret. He adds, however, that the oldest and most fragile people must in particular get their vaccine booster if they have not done so.
