From now on, the Samu can remotely take control of a telephone in order to help firefighters or paramedics.
A few months ago, in Limoges (Haute-Vienne), two paramedics delivered a baby. They weren’t quite alone. From a distance, a doctor from the Samu was able to guide them thanks to visor regulation. “It’s very hard sometimes to put words to a visual. He saw exactly what we were doing”, says Axel Salesse, paramedic at Europ Ambulance. Technological assistance increasingly used by Samu teams, sometimes directly with patients.
Thanks to a video link, the regulating doctors have access to their camera and assess the urgency of the situation in a few minutes. “It’s very interesting on bobology. It allows us to strengthen our regulatory decision”, says Dr. Dominique Cailloce, head of Samu 87. In the field, paramedics are experimenting with another promising tool: a belt capable of recording and transmitting a patient’s vital parameters to the Samu in real time. Firefighters are also following the trend.
