“What we pay for today is the punitive ecology of the crazy ecologists of Brussels”criticizes Tuesday January 30 on franceinfo, Laurent Jacobelli, spokesperson for the National Rally and deputy for Moselle while the mobilization of farmers continues in France.

Laurent Jacobelli notably denounces the European Union’s Green Deal. Also called “Green deal”, this text sets the objective of achieving carbon neutrality in 2050. The RN is against it because the Green Deal “says that we need a decline, a drop in cattle production, a drop in agricultural land. So we are preparing a sovereign agriculture with accelerated imports”, he argues before accusing “crazy ecologists” to be “irresponsible people”.

The elected RN accuses the government of having “played the role of overtransposing standards by banning a certain number of pesticides, materials authorized in other European countries while still putting our farmers in a difficult situation”. Thus, Laurent Jacobelli believes that Gabriel Attal, “should pronounce a radical change in government policy”, during his general policy speech Tuesday afternoon.

A “killing” of agriculture

He adds that the Prime Minister must say “finally, let this government renounce the killing of our agriculture”. But, “I do not believe it”, he continues. Because the head of government is “in this very Macronian logic that agriculture is finished, that we must import our agricultural products and that today the farmer is an obstacle to ecology, to the smooth liberal functioning of the world”.

Of “new measures will be taken” Tuesday in favor of farmers, promised government spokesperson Prisca Thevenot, in her press report from the Council of Ministers. In the meantime, farmers remain mobilized. Blockages and actions are underway. A convoy is heading towards the Rungis market where gendarmerie armored vehicles have been deployed. “All this must be done in good understanding. At the National Rally, we do not want any excesses. For the moment, we can see that everything has happened calmly almost everywhere and that must continue”, reacts Laurent Jacobelli. To environmental activists and left-wing elected officials who denounce “double standards” of maintaining order, the spokesperson for the RN responds that “ecologists do not defend their skin, they are not in a logic of survival”.
