It was undoubtedly the most awaited interview of the Cannes Film Festival. Idol of the 2000s, with his atypical look and his special grain of voice, Diam’s finally ironed a head, several years after having disappeared from the radar. Indeed, Augustin Trapenard dropped a huge bomb a few days before the opening of the 75th festival by revealing that Vitaa’s sidekick would be present at the event through a documentary on his life, Hello.
This Thursday, May 26, the journalist had the opportunity to meet the one who made thousands of people dance and sing, even today, on her famous titles like The Dumpling Where Night confessions. Seven years after his interview in seven to eightDiam’s once again opens up and even reveals a short excerpt from her documentary which will allow us to learn more about the life she had initially decided to keep secret.
What broke her
Because yes, if the artist has chosen to end her career, it is also partly because of the snapshot stolen when she was veiled, leaving a mosque. A moment that hurt her a lot and that she wanted to talk about.
“And I actually think that what made me sad, because there is anger, like the fact that someone stole something intimate from my life, but that’s manageable”she explains at first in Hello before revealing what had broken her the most during her career: “But there is above all… me, it was really in relation to the people who loved me… I knew that they (those who revealed the photo of Diam’s veiled when leaving a mosque: editor’s note) were going to break the love that there was between me and the public…”the artist then confessed, totally devastated: “That’s really what hurt me”.
