George Floyd, an African-American, died of asphyxiation during a police intervention in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020. Three years later, and with the feeling that little has changed, the debate on police brutality has reopened following the death of Tire Nichols.
On this day of commemoration, a group of anti-racist organizations will give a press conference on racial profiling at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Montreal offices of the Confederation of National Trade Unions. Members of the League of Rights and Freedoms will be present.
Then, south of the border, Canada’s Black Legislative Caucus and leaders of five U.S. civil rights organizations will deliver a joint statement from Washington at 2 p.m.
