The Palestinian armed group Islamic Jihad announced on Sunday that it had agreed to a truce agreement with Israel, after three days of hostilities.
Egypt, at the origin of a mediation between the two protagonists, called for a ceasefire from 11 p.m. (local time), according to an Egyptian security source.
Islamic Jihad confirmed that it would “cease hostilities” from that time, but that it reserved “the right to respond to any [nouvelle] Israeli aggression.
Since Friday, Israeli strikes targeting the Palestinian armed group have killed 43 people, including 15 children, and injured 275, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. In response, “more than 100 rockets” were launched by the al-Quds brigades towards Israeli soil. Two people were slightly injured, according to rescuers.
This confrontation is the worst since that between Israel and the armed organizations of Gaza in May 2021.
