What is the tetralogy of Fallot, the heart disease from which his young son, Bixente, suffers?

If in terms of media life, her supposed tensions with Inès Reg seem to worry her; On the private side, Natasha St-Pier is tormented by other, more serious problems. It is in particular the state of health of her son that has worried her for several years. Indeed, the young Bixente suffers from tetralogy of Fallot. An illness which was announced when the singer was five months pregnant. We take stock of this illness which has affected his very young son since birth.

Tetralogy of Fallot: kézako?

Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital heart anomaly, which accounts for a total of 7-10% of them according to the MSD manual*. “This condition consists of four heart defects that can lead to the circulation of blood deficient in oxygen. Symptoms include mild to severe cyanosis (bluish discoloration of the skin due to lack of oxygen in the blood), potentially fatal bouts of intense cyanosis due to a rapid drop in blood oxygen levels, and heart murmur. heart (the sound created by turbulent blood flow as blood passes through stenotic or incontinent valves, or through abnormal heart structures).”*

In the columns of GalaNatasha St-Pier explains in simpler terms what the illness means for her son: “Tetralogy of Fallot, Bixente’s pathology, is often associated with chromosomal diseases. (…) Our son’s malformation could have been accompanied by a mental disability, such as Down’s syndrome, but an amniocentesis cleared up this worry.”

Bixente had to undergo heart surgery at the age of only four months. In June 2020, she explained the purpose of this intervention to our counterparts at Gala : “The procedure he underwent was aimed at correcting a more mechanical problem and ensuring a life without physical disability.”

Natasha St-Pier constantly concerned about the state of health of her son Bixente

The young boy is well supported and is regularly monitored by health professionals: “He has cardio monitoring once a year. And for the moment, everything is good, everything is beautiful, and we hope it lasts like that for the rest of his life”, she concluded. No doubt: the young boy lives up to his first name, which means “the one who conquers”.
