This Monday, November 20, is International Children’s Rights Day. On this occasion, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne will unveil her plan to combat violence against children. Among these measures, the staffing of the special “child in danger” (119) and anti-harassment (3018) telephone numbers will be increased.
On the other hand, nothing has been announced at the moment for foreign minors placed in administrative detention centers and who have earned France criticism from Amnesty International and condemnation by the European Court of Human Rights.
After six months of drought and several weeks without drinking water on the tap, all the inhabitants of Mayotte will be supplied with bottled water from this Monday, without distinction. With one liter per day, 330,000 bottles must be distributed daily, according to the French government’s plan. On site, the municipalities fear not being able to properly organize this distribution.
And then Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi was released on bail on Saturday in his country, after spending more than a year in prison. He was sentenced in October 2022 to more than six years in prison for having supported in his songs the start of the revolt triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini, this young person who refused to wear the veil, in September 2022.
