What colossal fortune did the Queen of England leave to her heir?

The dreaded news has come. Queen Elizabeth died “peacefully” on the afternoon of Thursday, September 8 at Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s private property in Scotland, surrounded by her family, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace. Prince Charles’ mother spent nearly seven decades on the throne (seven months after her platinum jubilee, editor’s note), the longest reign of any British monarch. What about his successor? Charles, will automatically become king. In May, his son Charles delivered the Speech from the Throne to Parliament for the first time in his place, one of his essential constitutional functions. And in early February, the Queen announced she wanted Charles’ wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to be made Queen consort upon her death. Andrew’s brother will take the title of King Charles III. By becoming king, the eldest of Charles, prince William is thus in second position, followed by his grandson, prince George.

What fortune for the British crown?

Last year, the American magazine Forbes revealed the amount of assets held by the British crown. This includes lands and assets forming part of the Crown Estate ($19.5 billion), Buckingham Palace (estimated at $4.9 billion), Duchy of Cornwall ($1.3 billion) , the Duchy of Lancaster ($748 million), Kensington Palace (estimated at $630 million) and Crown Estate Scotland ($592 million). Queen Elizabeth had an additional $500 million in personal assets, according to the publication’s estimates across the Atlantic. All for a total amount of 28 billion dollars. A hell of a bonanza!
