The day after taking leave from his Les Républicains party, Damien Abad was appointed Minister of Solidarity, Autonomy and Disabled People. It is one of the surprises of this new government.
“It’s a moving, powerful moment. But you have to get involved right away.” These were the first words of Damien Abad, appointed this Friday, May 20 Minister of Solidarity, Autonomy and People with Disabilities. The former president of the Les Républicains group in the National Assembly had taken leave of his party the day before. Eight months ago, however, he swore that he would not give in to the sirens of Macronie.
Another surprise, the new Minister of National Education, Pap Ndiaye. The historian, a specialist in minorities and the United States, is a marker of the left in this new government: “I am a symbol of meritocracy and diversity”, he reacted during the transfer of power with Jean-Michel Blanquer. Another new face to Culture: Rima Abdul Malak, who worked in the shadows at the Élysée as a Cultural Advisor.
