It was at the end of his studies, when he had collected a Christmas parcel for his neighbour, that Romain Barreau said to himself that there was something to do for these thousands of parcels which do not arrive. to their recipients: “I had the idea of Welco at that time, telling myself that ultimately there are a lot of consumers each year running after our parcels, after an e-commerce purchase, and we necessarily have a neighbor, a neighbor available around us when we are not.” Romain and his partner Mathieu took two years to launch the site and the application which today brings together thousands of “welkers”…
Welco had to convince carriers and e-tailers to integrate their solution. It saves them having to go back two or three times, which costs them dearly. Neighbors complete their networks of relay points, especially in certain rural areas.
Welco launched last year, with 100,000 parcels distributed in the first year, 500,000 this year. Romain and Mathieu nevertheless launched themselves with the means at hand butince they raised funds and became certain that the service would grow.
