“We understand their hatred”, admits Presnel Kimpembe after the bronca of the supporters

It was predictable. The easy victory against the red lantern of the championship, Sunday March 12, did not heal the wound. This remains gaping after the elimination by Real Madrid in the knockout stages of the Champions League and its terrible scenario for the Parisians. One more, one too many, for the Park supporters who covered their players with lazzi throughout the game, with the notable exception of Kylian Mbappé.

The undeniable success against a weak Bordeaux team was obviously not enough to make the pill go away even if, as Mauricio Pochettino admitted, “dyears of difficult circumstances, the team responded, with a professional performance, with a 3-0″. The Argentine coach, however, could not ignore the questions about the terrible bronca that accompanied his players.

“How did we experience the reaction of the public? With sadness. Anyone who loves PSG, its colors, and who feels the frustration of elimination, cannot experience it in any other way. Sadness, I think that’s the right word, the sadness of living an afternoon like this at the Parc des Princes”lamented the coach.

Two players, and not the least, were the target of these permanent whistles: Lionel Messi and Neymar, guilty, in the eyes of the Park, of symbolizing the failure and the renunciation shown by the team in Madrid. Pochettino did not want to isolate them: “We are all affected, we understand the disappointment and frustration, which we also share. But we are responsible, we only have to assume as a team, and we will be united until the end.”

This acceptance of criticism and anger is also found in the speech of Presnel Kimpembe. The Parisian defender, still in the post-match press conference, goes even further: “On necessarily understands their disappointment, we understand their hatred and their cries”. Strong words and a contrition which will however perhaps not be enough to calm the vehemence of the Parisian fans.
