Valérie Plante spoke to the media about the multiple events of armed violence that took place in the metropolis this summer.

Ms. Plante provided an update on the resurgence of armed violence in Montreal. She was accompanied by Martin Prud’homme, Deputy Director General of the City of Montreal associated with public security.
“We must not give in to fear,” she said in a press briefing on Sunday about the incidents of armed violence.
The suspect who allegedly shot three innocent people in 24 hours on August 3 caused a reaction from a large part of the Montreal population, who questioned the safety of the city.
