Egalim Law: “Sanctions have been imposed” assures the minister

“Sanctions have been imposed, which will hit the wallets of distributors” circumventing the Egalim law, assures Agnès Pannier-Runacher. While the government plans “by the summer” a new text of law strengthening the rules for negotiations between supermarkets and agro-industrialists (Egalim) with the aim of improving farmers’ remuneration, the minister assures that she wants to “sanction systematically cheaters.”

“We will not let this happen,” she warned. In this regard, the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire announced that 150 fraud repression agents (DGCCRF) are mobilized to control large manufacturers and distributors. According to her, “farmers must be able to obtain fair pricing for agricultural production (…) These previous Egalim laws have made it possible to return income to farmers. Is this sufficient? No. Is it necessary go further? Yes. That’s what we are doing,” she assured.
